Supervision Skills- Managing Employee Performance
Performance supervision coupled with feedback administration are fundamental management tools which help the HR managers to evaluate and monitor levels of performance with an aim of directing performs towards achieving organizational goals. The systems of supervision monitor performance against measurable standards and allow managers to notice problems, to intervene, and to reward success. Where performance is measured consistently and systematically, the supervisor is in a good position to detect skill areas that need development and production points that may be slow.

Enhancing Employee Experiences: Bridging Theory and Practice in Performance Management

Objective:
The overarching objective is to create a supportive environment where students share their experiences and challenges in management-related tasks, fostering learning and growth through peer discussions.

Activity Outline:

  1. Introduction
  • Welcome participants and introduce the purpose of the workshop.
  • Briefly explain the importance of sharing experiences in developing managerial skills.
  1. Assign Specific Themes
  • Each participant will be provided with a topical theme.
  • The themes are related to performance management:
  1. Cultural Congruence
  2. Effective Feedback
  3. Inclusiveness
  4. Strategic Congruence
  5. Performance Evaluation Thoroughness

 

  1. Sharing Personal Managerial Experiences

Each participant will be provided an opportunity to share a personal experience related to their assigned theme. Focus on three key areas:

The Challenge Faced

Describe a specific challenge encountered in a managerial context.

The Actions Taken

Outline the steps taken to address the challenge.

The Outcomes/Results

Share the outcomes, including successes and lessons learned.

 

After each participant shares, participants will be prompted to asked questions. Examples include:

  • What strategies worked best for you?
  • How did your approach consider the context?
  • Were there any unexpected outcomes?
  1. Group Reflection and Conclusion
  • Each individual to summarise their lessons learned and key insights.
  • Provide information on any follow-up resources or further discussions.
